Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Delhi Capitals face a setback as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspends their captain, Rishabh Pant, for one IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, accompanied by a ₹30 lakh fine. The decision stems from the team's slow over-rate during their recent match against Rajasthan Royals, marking the third such offence for Pant this season, in accordance with IPL's Code of Conduct.
The BCCI's decision to suspend Pant follows a series of over-rate breaches, with the third incident occurring during Delhi Capitals' clash against Rajasthan Royals. As per IPL regulations, the first two violations incur fines of ₹12 lakh and ₹24 lakh, respectively, while the third breach warrants a one-match suspension and a ₹30 lakh fine for the captain.
Despite an appeal filed by Delhi Capitals against the ruling, the BCCI Ombudsman upheld the decision of the match referee, leaving the team without their captain for the crucial match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With Pant sidelined, Australia's David Warner is anticipated to assume the role of stand-in captain for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming fixture.
